LET’S GO NOSTALGIC…MY CHRISTMAS LIST

LET’S GO NOSTALGIC…MY CHRISTMAS LIST

I think the first time you hear yourself say when I was your age I had to walk ten miles to school…or…I had to do chores before I could get an allowance, you know instantly the times have changed. And you laugh…because you can’t believe how the years have flown by.

Now, all the things your parents said to you when you were growing up are the very words you hear coming out of your mouth on a daily basis. I guess when I think back, my all-time favorite declaration of my dad’s was, “If you don’t work, you don’t eat.”

No misinterpretation with that statement, believe me. It was deeply ingrained in my mind from an early age, which makes it so difficult for me to accept the Wall Street protestors list of demands. Actually, when I heard about the list (its existence is still being debated), I was quickly reminded of the lists I used to leave for Santa Claus when I was a little girl.

My Christmas List was always on a long piece of paper, usually without any lines, numbered one through ten. Later on, I upped the number to twenty-five, then fifty. Why not? I didn’t actually believe Santa Claus would meet all my demands because even as a child I knew the guy in the red suit had limitations.

First off, he’s under the gun on Christmas Eve trying to deliver toys to every kid on the planet before the sun rises on Christmas Day. Not a small task, especially when some homes don’t have chimneys or a roof where he can park his sleigh. But they do have a doorman, only he’s not buying any guy’s story that he needs to get into the building for a few hours. Not a guy in a red suit, black boots, with a white beard and carrying a sack.

As for the second reason I never blamed Santa for not getting me everything I ever wanted at Christmas, it’s because I figured out the deal with Santa early on. You know, how he or she leads a double life…working extra shifts or a second job to make ends meet. And how there really isn’t one Santa, but millions of Santas. In fact, one for every family or something equivalent, who makes sacrifices to provide the best they can for those they love.

Knowing this…I never threatened to do away with my parents when I didn’t get something on my list. That would be biting off the hand that fed me. Also, I never braved the weather to camp out on the front lawn in protest nor did I unite block after block of disgruntled  adolescents in the neighborhood with a chant to hate your parents, if you didn’t get what’s on your Christmas List. I just couldn’t do that because I knew the truth. I had the ability to discern fact from fiction as a babe.

NEWSFLASH: Wall Street doesn’t owe anyone anything. Yeah, I said it. Because someone has to in order to get to the truth of this whole so-called movement that has been pieced together by the Left. I am convinced now after a month that all this turmoil generated by left-wing supporters (who want to stick it to the rich) is a covert way to keep Americans’s eyes off Washington D.C. and focused elsewhere in the nation. San Francisco. Chicago. Boston. Los Angeles. Only this is the time when every Republican, Conservative and Team Party Member should have all eyes narrowed and focused on the White House, Congress, DOJ, The Federal Reserve, DHS, HHS, EPA…and so on. You see, while all of us are giving more and more credence to the protestors, we are giving the Left the opportunity to sweep everything under the rug. Scandals. Unauthorized Stuff. Missing Reports. Squandered Tax Dollars. This is when those who say they want to save this country are needed more than ever to watch the capitol and keep all eyes on the Powers That Be, who haven’t stopped plotting and spreading lies since they got into office to devalue the importance of family, religion, patriotism and all the things this country was built on since the American Revolution.

Listen up, nowhere in the United States Constitution does it say, “Be a doormat. Let the Left walk all over you.” So why are we? Why are we even concerned with the list of demands the protestors have shoved in our faces, when we know they are impossible demands to accept. And when the demands are not met, what makes anyone think that millions of Americans will fold and give the protestors what they want, once they start acting up? When and if they get crazy enough to start hurting people? Dragging people out of their homes or cars and beating them down, all because the protestors didn’t get what they wanted on their list of demands from Wall Street and the Federal Government.

Look there are a zillion of things I didn’t get on my Christmas List over the years. I am sure the same can be said for a lot of Americans. But did you hold it against your mother and father? And if you did, does it matter now? Probably not.  Because in the big scheme of things, your parents did the best they could, but at some point it became your responsibility to get the things you wanted. The time came for you to make a personal sacrifice to contribute to your own livelihood. Which is something millions of Americans learned some time ago, but apparently the Wall Street Protestors never did. Go figure.

But to end this opinion on an up-note on this glorious Sunday, I am sharing my list of demands with you from past Christmas’s and adding a few Christmas List items from some of my friends. Now, if you would like me to add the items you never received at Christmas to my list (nothing naughty) then FOLLOW ME on Twitter and I’ll add on whatever you send to my list. One item per person. It doesn’t matter if the toy is still being made or not. If you didn’t get that Cabbage Patch Doll, put it on the list. If you didn’t get that Schwinn Racer put it on the list. If you didn’t get that set of Lincoln Logs, put it on the list. [By the way did you know Lincoln Logs were created by the son of architect Frank Lloyd Wright...John Lloyd Wright?]

Why do this? To remind you of where you were once upon a time…and where you are now. Most of the things I’ve noted on the list below, I received or have them. But some things take time before you can have that “thing” or arrive at a certain place.

Anyway, by Christmas, who knows how long the list will be if everyone follows me and retweets my message. It will be great when I finally compile everything and tweet you the Grand List.  Then everybody can see just how blessed we are to have what we do in 2011.
